Green Class hit the web!

Following a visit to Whitechapel Art Gallery before Easter, Green class had a workshop in school with the London based Japanese artist Akane Takayama.  She spent a day with us guiding the class through the process of creating an individual piece of sculpture.  Akane has been working on a “DOG Sculpture Installation” for the past 3 years, creating 750 cardboard dogs that were displayed in local parks!

We only had one day, but each child was already prepared with drawings and plans produced and copied.  Everyone chose an animal of their choice, drew it, traced it onto card, added the necessary detail and then, turned them into 3D sculptures that look amazing!

It was a great day with lots of hard work, laughs and moments of panic, but every artist produced a sculpture that they can be very proud of.  Akane was very impressed with the results and offered to put them on her website where she has created an online gallery of the work.  You can visit it by clicking the link below; you can even add your own comments.

They could be worth a fortune in the future!
