We believe it is important that our families feel welcome and relaxed in our school; that you don’t feel anxious about approaching the staff, or making a request about your child’s education or well-being. We hope that in your child’s first days and weeks in school you are able to spend time with them, helping them to settle and watching the EYU team at work with them. We welcome voluntary help and support throughout the school, but also appreciate that busy home/work lives (and confidence!) can affect the amount of time that people are able to commit to working in school. We value the many ways that parents are able to support our school and their children’s education, not least of which is supporting their children’s learning at home and reinforcing the codes of behaviour and ethos of the school.
We are proud that many parents that began supporting us in school have gone on to receive training in childcare or special needs support and are now employed as members of our school staff!
We are happy for parents to accompany us on trips, and to attend assemblies. Concerts and parties are held throughout the year to celebrate festivals – parental support (including food donations) for these events is greatly appreciated!
We hold parents courses (including English as a second language and parenting skills) as often as funds allow – look out for information in newsletters and on the parent’s notice board.
In the summer term the school charters a train for a family seaside outing. All family members are invited to join us for a fun day out at the beach!
Parent’s questionnaires are sent out annually to gather information on parental opinion on a variety of school related subjects; these help us decide the priorities for school development. We hold parent’s consultations termly and the annual governors report to parents is sent out in the autumn term.
